Pratt Bennet is a brain-based coach and college professor in Boston with over 30 years of experience in the classroom. Having taught at the college level to over 20,000 students from the United States and over 95 other countries, he has developed a unique set of evidence-based, interdisciplinary, classroom-tested approaches to a wide variety of learning challenges.
Since receiving his B.A. with honors in Literature from Yale University and studying Sculpture at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, he has taught dozens of courses in Art Appreciation, ESL, U.S. History, Film Analysis, Sociology, Gender Studies, Literature, Creative Writing, and Critical Thinking. He is currently an assistant professor in the Liberal Arts Department of Berklee College of Music, where he has
been teaching for 20 years.
Pratt has also been coaching for over 20 years. He received his training from Results Coaching Systems, which is part of the Neuroleadership Institute and the world leader in neuroscience-based coaching. He has designed and led intensive training programs for employees and executives from hundreds of corporations & organizations, including Deloitte, Eli Lilly, Ernst & Young, Grupo Simoans, Petrobras, KPMG, JAL, Nokia, Otis Elevator, Coca-Cola, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Saudi Air, Sony, TeleNav, Universal Music Group, the U.S. Army, U.S. Dept. of Justice, the World Bank, and Yamaha. He has trained legal representatives, government officials, ministers, intelligence officers, and secret service agents from countries around the world in critical thinking, team-building, career-planning, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
Pratt’s cutting-edge programs for faculty and administrators blend research from the fields of Educational and Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychiatry, Sociology, Educational Psychology, and other fields to shed light on why students sometimes struggle to learn and how we as educators can help them not only survive, but thrive. Through a combination of workshops, presentations, online video tutorials, group and laser-coaching sessions, Pratt presents participants with immediately-applicable information about the most effective brain-based approaches to improving teaching and learning. The most important part of his program is coaching each teacher to help them find the most meaningful and effective ways to apply the training to their individual class challenges. In the process, he works to help each participant become a more aware, engaging, inspired, and effective educator.
